Dr. Franklin is fellowship trained in Hand Surgery from the prestigious Mary S. Stern/University of Cincinnati Hand Surgery Fellowship in Ohio. He completed his medical
school training at the Keck/University of Southern California School of Medicine and stayed in Southern California and at USC for his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. It was there, while
living in San Clemente and commuting to Los Angeles every day, that he developed a special appreciation and interest in the intricacies of the hand. The desire to expand his training in
hand surgery led him to spend the extra year of training in Ohio, where he refined his techniques for treating such conditions as
Dupuytren’s Disease,
basilar
thumb arthritis,
carpal tunnel syndrome, and
traumatic hand injuries.
After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Franklin headed straight back to San Clemente with his family and joined Drs. Gus Gialamas and William Van der Reis at Sea View Orthopaedic Medical
Group. He looks forward to treating his patients with personalized care, compassion, and enthusiasm. His particular interest and specialized training is in surgery of the hand but also
greatly enjoys general orthopaedics as well as treating sports injuries and children with fractures.
On his time off Dr. Franklin loves spending time with his wife, Kate, and their two girls, Kyle and Emmi. He also serves as a team physician for Saddleback College Athletics and San Clemente
High School Athletics. The rest of the time you can find him enjoying the ocean, surfing, bodysurfing, or paddling, or in the mountains riding bikes or motorcycles.
